Dominant groups

Analysis of the hours worked by the City of Adelaide's local resident workers in 2011 compared to South Australia shows that there was a lower proportion of people who worked part-time (34 hours or less) and a higher proportion of people worked full-time (35 hours or more).

Overall, 32.1% of the local resident workers worked part-time (34 hours or less), and 62.0% worked full-time (35 hours or more), compared with 33.5% and 60.2% respectively for South Australia.

The major differences between the hours worked by the local resident workers of the City of Adelaide and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of local resident workers who worked 49 hours or more (17.4% compared to 14.5%)
  • A larger percentage of local resident workers who worked 1 hour - 15 hours (13.7% compared to 12.0%)
