Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the local resident workers in City of Adelaide in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,373 people or 15.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,163 people or 12.8%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (1,061 people or 11.7%)

In combination these three industries employed 3,597 people in total or 39.6% of the total local resident workers.

In comparison, South Australia employed 13.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 5.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 6.3% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the local resident workers of the City of Adelaide and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of local resident workers employed in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (12.8% compared to 5.5%)
