Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in City of Adelaide in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Financial and Insurance Services (2,543 people or 23.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,183 people or 19.8%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (1,476 people or 13.4%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $6,202 million in total or 56.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the City of Adelaide.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 6.7% in Financial and Insurance Services; 5.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 10.8% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services.

The major differences between local sales by industries in the City of Adelaide and South Australia were:
