Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the local resident workers in Ballina Shire in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,563 people or 15.4%)
  • Retail Trade (2,153 people or 13.0%)
  • Education and Training (1,741 people or 10.5%)

In combination these three industries employed 6,457 people in total or 38.9% of the total local resident workers.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 11.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.3% in Retail Trade; and 7.9% in Education and Training.
