Goulburn Mulwaree Council area
The Goulburn Mulwaree Council area is located in central New South Wales. The Council area encompasses a total land of over 3,200 square kilometres. The Goulburn Mulwaree Council area is predominantly rural, with a city in Goulburn and small villages at Bungonia, Lake Bathurst, Marulan, Tallong and Tarago. Land is used largely for agriculture, particularly sheep grazing, with some cattle grazing and boutique industries.
Key employment sectors in the Goulburn Mulwaree Council area include health care, retail trade, public administration and safety, accommodation and food services, education and training, manufacturing and tourism. The primary health care facility in the Council area is Goulburn Hospital, with numerous aged care facilities. The main retail areas are the Goulburn Central Business District, Goulburn Square Shopping Centre and Goulburn MarketPlace, with a smaller centre at Bradfordville Shopping Centre. Goulburn Mulwaree’s main employers in public administration and safety are the NSW Police Force Academy and the Goulburn Correctional Centre. The Council area is home to TAFE NSW Illawarra (Goulburn Campus) and numerous schools. The main industrial areas are located in the south-west, south and north-east of the locality of Goulburn. Tourism is an important industry for Goulburn Mulwaree, with a range of attractions, including Morton National Park, numerous nature reserves and parks, and various museums, heritage places and accommodation places.
