Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Gunnedah Shire in 2014/15 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($332 million or 25.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($318 million or 24.8%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($68 million or 5.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $718 million in total or 56.0% of the total imports by total industry in the Gunnedah Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 35.7% in Manufacturing; 3.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 3.8% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between total imports by industries in the Gunnedah Shire and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (24.8% compared to 3.7%)
