Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Gunnedah Shire in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($169 million or 28.4%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($77 million or 12.9%)
  • Mining ($50 million or 8.5%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $297 million in total or 49.8% of the total imports by total industry in the Gunnedah Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 29.5% in Manufacturing; 8.3% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 11.4% in Mining.

The major differences between total imports by industries in the Gunnedah Shire and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (12.9% compared to 8.3%)
