Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the local resident workers in Gunnedah Shire in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (895 people or 17.1%)
  • Retail Trade (516 people or 9.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (483 people or 9.2%)

In combination these three industries employed 1,894 people in total or 36.3% of the total local resident workers.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 2.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 10.3% in Retail Trade; and 11.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the local resident workers of the Gunnedah Shire and New South Wales were:
