Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Gunnedah Shire in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction (123 people or 14.3%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (103 people or 11.9%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (77 people or 8.9%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $303 million in total or 35.2% of the total local sales by total industry in the Gunnedah Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 16.8% in Construction; 14.1% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; and 1.5% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between local sales by industries in the Gunnedah Shire and New South Wales were:
