Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Gympie Regional Council in 2014/15 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($663 million or 38.7%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($185 million or 10.8%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($131 million or 7.7%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $979 million in total or 57.2% of the total imports by total industry in the Gympie Regional Council.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 40.3% in Manufacturing; 4.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 5.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries in the Gympie Regional Council and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (10.8% compared to 4.8%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (5.4% compared to 3.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (5.2% compared to 10.6%)
