Infrastructure

The City of Joondalup is located in Perth's northern suburbs. The City is encompasses a total land area of about 97 square kilometres, and features substantial areas of coastline, parkland, foreshore reserves and bushland. The City is predominantly residential, with some commercial, educational and industrial areas.

Key employment sectors include retail, health and education, and to a lesser extent, tourism. Major retail centres include Joondalup City Centre, Whitford City, Lakeside Joondalup and Centro Warwick, with numerous smaller centres. Joondalup has one major public hospital (Joondalup Health Campus) and one private hospital (Glengarry). Joondalup features several tertiary institutions (Edith Cowan University, West Coast Institute of Training and Motor Industry Training Association of Western Australia), numerous private and public schools, and the Western Australia Police Academy.
