Dominant groups

Analysis of the hours worked by the Macarthur Region's local labour force in 2011 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a lower proportion of people who worked part-time (34 hours or less) and a higher proportion of people worked full-time (35 hours or more).

Overall, 26.8% of the local labour force worked part-time (34 hours or less), and 67.0% worked full-time (35 hours or more), compared with 28.3% and 65.8% respectively for Greater Sydney.

The major differences between the hours worked by the local labour force of the Macarthur Region and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of local labour force who worked 35 hours - 39 hours (21.5% compared to 18.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of local labour force who worked 49 hours or more (15.2% compared to 16.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of local labour force who worked 16 hours - 24 hours (8.6% compared to 9.6%)
