Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the local labour force in City of Monash in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Retail Trade (8,801 people or 11.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (8,799 people or 11.2%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (8,279 people or 10.6%)

In combination these three industries employed 25,879 people in total or 33.0% of the total workforce.

In comparison, Victoria employed 10.8% in Retail Trade; 11.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 7.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the local labour force of the City of Monash and Victoria were:
