Infrastructure

The City of Monash is located in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs. The City encompasses a total land area of 81 square kilometres. Monash is an established predominantly residential area, with substantial industrial, commercial, health and educational land uses, and significant parklands.

While being largely residential, Monash has significant areas of employment, particularly in manufacturing, retail, education and health. Major industrial areas are located in Clayton, Huntingdale, Mulgrave, Notting Hill and Oakleigh. Monash features major retail areas at Glen Waverley (Centro The Glen and Century City Walk) and Oakleigh, and several other significant centres (Centro Brandon Park, Clayton, Huntingdale Village, Monash Home Maker, Mount Waverley Village, Pinewood, Waverley Gardens and Wheelers Hill). Two tertiary institutions are located in Monash (Monash University and Holmesglen Institute of TAFE), along with GippsTAFE Energy Training Centre, numerous private and public schools, and the Victoria Police Academy.
