Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Murweh Shire in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction (117 people or 32.6%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (41 people or 11.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (23 people or 6.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $180 million in total or 50.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the Murweh Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 20.8% in Construction; 2.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 5.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between local sales by industries in the Murweh Shire and Queensland were:
