Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident workers in the Northern Rivers Region in 2021shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (25,809 people or 19.8%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (18,368 people or 14.1%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (18,221 people or 13.9%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 62,398 people in total or 47.8% of the resident workers (All industries).

In comparison, NSW employed 25.8% in Professionals; 11.9% in Technicians and Trades Workers and 10.6% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workers (All industries) of the Northern Rivers Region and NSW were:

  • A smaller percentage of resident workers (All industries) employed as Professionals (19.8% compared to 25.8%)
  • A larger percentage of resident workers (All industries) employed as Labourers (11.9% compared to 8.2%)
