Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the local labour force in Penrith City in 2011 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Manufacturing (10,294 people or 11.8%)
  • Retail Trade (9,900 people or 11.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (8,845 people or 10.1%)

In combination these three industries employed 29,039 people in total or 33.3% of the total local labour force.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 8.5% in Manufacturing; 9.8% in Retail Trade; and 10.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the local labour force of Penrith City and Greater Sydney were:
