In the Limestone Coast region, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing had the largest total exports by industry, generating $2,531 million in 2021/22.

Exports by industry are sales of goods and services to non-resident households, businesses and other organisations, outside the Limestone Coast region boundaries. Exports (domestic) include all exports from the area to other parts of Australia. Exports (international) includes all exports from the Region to countries outside Australia.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Limestone Coast region in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (2,531 million or 55.3%)
  • Manufacturing (1,345 million or 29.4%)
  • Wholesale Trade (138 million or 3.0%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 4,015 million in total or 87.7% of the total exports by industry in the the Limestone Coast region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 14.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 18.6% in Manufacturing and 4.6% in Wholesale Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Limestone Coast region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (55.3% compared to 14.3%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (29.4% compared to 18.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.2% compared to 8.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (0.4% compared to 8.1%)

The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2016/17 and 2021/22 in the Limestone Coast region were for:

  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+$29 million)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (+$18 million)
