Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in SHOROC Region in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (5,447 people or 23.3%)
  • Construction (3,052 people or 13.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,842 people or 7.9%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $10,341 million in total or 44.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the SHOROC Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 14.1% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; 16.8% in Construction; and 7.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between local sales by industries in the SHOROC Region and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (23.3% compared to 14.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (13.1% compared to 16.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Financial and Insurance Services (5.2% compared to 7.8%)
