Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Sunshine Coast in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (1,126 million or 17.4%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (675 million or 10.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (596 million or 9.2%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 2,397 million in total or 37.0% of the total exports by industry in the Sunshine Coast.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 16.5% in Manufacturing; 2.4% in Accommodation and Food Services and 4.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of Sunshine Coast and Queensland were:

  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (7.3% compared to 22.7%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Accommodation and Food Services (10.4% compared to 2.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (0.8% compared to 6.1%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Education and Training (8.6% compared to 3.6%)
