In Tablelands, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing had the largest total exports by industry, generating $276 million in 2015/16.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Tablelands in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($276 million or 37.2%)
  • Mining ($220 million or 29.7%)
  • Manufacturing ($66 million or 9.0%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $563 million in total or 75.9% of the total exports by total industry in Tablelands.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 6.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 28.6% in Mining; and 16.9% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between total exports by industries in Tablelands and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (37.2% compared to 6.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (9.0% compared to 16.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (0.2% compared to 6.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (0.2% compared to 5.8%)
