Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Tablelands in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction (299 people or 17.7%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (144 people or 8.5%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (143 people or 8.4%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $586 million in total or 34.6% of the total local sales by total industry in Tablelands.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Regional QLD accounted for 21.4% in Construction; 10.9% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; and 6.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between local sales by industries in Tablelands and Regional QLD were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (7.2% compared to 3.5%)
  • A larger percentage of local sales by Health Care and Social Assistance (8.4% compared to 6.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (17.7% compared to 21.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (8.5% compared to 10.9%)
