Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the Yass Valley in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Public Administration and Safety (1,754 people or 19.5%)
  • Construction (1,094 people or 12.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (889 people or 9.9%)

In combination these three industries employed 3,737 people in total or 41.5% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 6.1% in Public Administration and Safety; 8.6% in Construction and 14.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the Yass Valley and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Public Administration and Safety (19.5% compared to 6.1%)
  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (7.0% compared to 2.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Health Care and Social Assistance (9.9% compared to 14.4%)
