Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Yass Valley in 2015/16 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction (244 people or 26.3%)
  • Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services (78 people or 8.4%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (78 people or 8.4%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $400 million in total or 43.2% of the total local sales by total industry in the Yass Valley.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Australian Capital Territory accounted for 11.2% in Construction; 10.3% in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services; and 0.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between local sales by industries in the Yass Valley and Australian Capital Territory were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Construction (26.3% compared to 11.2%)
