An analysis of the international imports by industry sectors in City of Adelaide in 2017/18 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($1,795 million or 73.5%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($168 million or 6.9%)
- Information Media and Telecommunications ($117 million or 4.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $2,080 million in total or 85.2% of the total international imports by total industry in the City of Adelaide.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Adelaide accounted for 80.1% in Manufacturing; 3.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 2.3% in Information Media and Telecommunications.
The major differences between international imports by industries in the City of Adelaide and Greater Adelaide were:
- A larger percentage of international imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (6.9% compared to 3.6%)
- A larger percentage of international imports by Information Media and Telecommunications (4.8% compared to 2.3%)
- A smaller percentage of international imports by Manufacturing (73.5% compared to 80.1%)
