In 2016, there were 156 resident workers who caught public transport to work (train, bus, tram or ferry) in the City of Albany, compared with 12,278 who drove in private vehicles (car – as driver, car – as passenger, motorbike, or truck).

Analysis of the method of travel to work of the resident workers in the City of Albany shows that 1.0% used public transport, while 76.8% used a private vehicle, compared with 0.3% and 81.5% respectively in Public Administration and Safety within the City of Albany.

The major differences between the method of travel to work of the resident workers in the City of Albany and the Public Administration and Safety workforce were:

  • A smaller percentage of resident workers who travelled by car, as driver (69.8% compared to 79.1%)
