Analysis of the resident workers age structure of Ballina Shire in 2016 compared to Health Care and Social Assistance shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (15 to 44 years) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (45 years and over).
Overall, 47.5% of the resident workers was aged under 45 years, compared to 37.3% for Health Care and Social Assistance. 52.5% were aged 45 years and over, compared to 62.7% for Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between the resident workers age structure of Ballina Shire and Health Care and Social Assistance were:
