Resident workers - Individual income
Cairns labour force (Wholesale Trade) have a lower proportion of people with high incomes ($1,750 or more per week) than Queensland.

Analysis of the resident workers (Wholesale Trade) individual income levels in Cairns in 2016 compared to Queensland shows that there was a lower proportion earning a high income (those earning $1,750 per week or more) and a similar proportion of low income persons (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 9.5% of the resident workers (Wholesale Trade) earned a high income, and 8.3% earned a low income, compared with 18.7% and 8.8% respectively for Queensland.
The major differences between the weekly income of the resident workers (Wholesale Trade) in Cairns and Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of resident workers (Wholesale Trade) earned $650 - $799 (16.9% compared to 12.2%)
- A larger percentage of resident workers (Wholesale Trade) earned $800 - $999 (21.8% compared to 17.6%)
- A smaller percentage of resident workers (Wholesale Trade) earned $2,000 - $2,999 (3.5% compared to 8.8%)
- A smaller percentage of resident workers (Wholesale Trade) earned $3,000 or more (2.2% compared to 4.5%)
