Analysis of the resident workers individual income levels in Cairns in 2016 compared to Arts and Recreation Services shows that there was a higher proportion earning a high income (those earning $1,750 per week or more) and a lower proportion of low income persons (those earning less than $500 per week).

Overall, 14.1% of the resident workers earned a high income, and 16.4% earned a low income, compared with 4.3% and 24.5% respectively for Arts and Recreation Services.
