Analysis of the resident workers (Accommodation and Food Services) individual income levels in Cairns in 2016 compared to Other Services shows that there was a lower proportion earning a high income (those earning $1,750 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income persons (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 2.8% of the resident workers (Accommodation and Food Services) earned a high income, and 35.6% earned a low income, compared with 6.9% and 20.3% respectively for Other Services.
The major differences between the weekly income of the resident workers (Accommodation and Food Services) in Cairns and Other Services were:
