Analysis of the individual income levels in Cairns in 2016 compared to the Accommodation and Food Services workforce within Cairns shows that there was a higher proportion earning a high income (those earning $1,750 per week or more) and a lower proportion of low income persons (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 13.1% of the earned a high income, and 16.7% earned a low income, compared with 2.7% and 36.1% respectively for the Accommodation and Food Services workforce within Cairns.
