Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the Cassowary Coast in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (2,528 people or 20.5%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,359 people or 11.0%)
  • Retail Trade (1,059 people or 8.6%)

In combination these three industries employed 4,946 people in total or 40.1% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, Queensland employed 2.6% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 15.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 9.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the Cassowary Coast and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (20.5% compared to 2.6%)
