Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the South East Queensland in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (31,336 million or 20.3%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (20,259 million or 13.1%)
- Mining (12,458 million or 8.1%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 64,052 million in total or 41.5% of the total exports by industry in the the South East Queensland.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Greater Brisbane accounted for 20.4% in Manufacturing; 14.9% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 6.2% in Mining.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the South East Queensland and Greater Brisbane were:
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (13.1% compared to 14.9%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Mining (8.1% compared to 6.2%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (7.5% compared to 9.3%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (3.5% compared to 2.0%)
Emerging groups
The total total exports by industry in the South East Queensland $increased by 45,172 million between 2008/09 and 2022/23.
The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2008/09 and 2022/23 in the South East Queensland were for:
- Mining (+$7,725 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$5,743 million)
- Manufacturing (+$4,874 million)
- Financial and Insurance Services (+$4,719 million)
