Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Gold Coast City in 2021/22 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (3,550 million or 23.0%)
  • Retail Trade (1,477 million or 9.5%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (1,434 million or 9.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 6,460 million in total or 41.8% of the total exports by industry in the the Gold Coast City.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 15.2% in Manufacturing; 2.3% in Retail Trade and 1.9% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Gold Coast City and Queensland were:

  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Mining (6.4% compared to 31.5%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (23.0% compared to 15.2%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Accommodation and Food Services (9.3% compared to 1.9%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Retail Trade (9.5% compared to 2.3%)
