Resident workers - Age structure
In the Cook Shire, there are more younger workers (15 to 44 years) than older workers (45 year and over) in the resident workers .

Analysis of the resident workers age structure of the Cook Shire in 2016 compared to Other Services shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (15 to 44 years) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (45 years and over).
Overall, 52.2% of the resident workers was aged under 45 years, compared to 75.0% for Other Services. 47.8% were aged 45 years and over, compared to 25.0% for Other Services.
The major differences between the resident workers age structure of the Cook Shire and Other Services were:
- A larger percentage of resident workers aged 55 to 64 years (20.5% compared to 11.1%)
- A larger percentage of resident workers aged 45 to 54 years (21.3% compared to 13.9%)

From 2011 to 2016, Cook Shire's resident workers population increased by 118 people (7.4%). This represents an average annual change of 1.45% per year over the period.
