An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Cook Shire in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($166 million or 34.2%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($46 million or 9.4%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($44 million or 9.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $256 million in total or 52.7% of the total imports by industry in the the Cook Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 35.1% in Manufacturing; 10.0% in Financial and Insurance Services and 6.5% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the Cook Shire and Queensland were:

  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (1.3% compared to 5.1%)
