An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Cook Shire in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Mining ($349 million or 65.5%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($53 million or 10.0%)
- Manufacturing ($38 million or 7.2%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $440 million in total or 82.6% of the total imports by industry in the the Cook Shire.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 27.1% in Mining; 5.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 15.2% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the Cook Shire and Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (65.5% compared to 27.1%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (0.9% compared to 9.9%)
