Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Cook Shire in 2016/17 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction (175 people or 43.3%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (25 people or 6.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (24 people or 6.0%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $224 million in total or 55.5% of the total local sales by total industry in the Cook Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 19.1% in Construction; 4.2% in Public Administration and Safety; and 5.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between local sales by industries in the Cook Shire and Queensland were:
