Local workers - Field of qualification - Accommodation and Food Services
Within the Cook Shire, there are more Accommodation and Food Services with Food, Hospitality and Personal Services qualifications than any other field of qualification.

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) – Census 2016 – by place of work
Please note – The 2016 Census used a new methodology to “impute” a work location to people who didn’t state their workplace address. As a result, 2016 and 2011 place of work data are not normally comparable. To allow comparison between 2011 and 2016, .id has sourced a 2011 dataset from the ABS which was experimentally imputed using the same methodology. However this dataset is NOT available at the Local Government Area level, and had to be matched using a best fit of work destination zones (DZNs) to the current LGA boundaries. Analysis of the fields of qualifications of the Accommodation and Food Services shows that the three largest fields of qualification were:
- Food, Hospitality and Personal Services (29 people or 13.4%)
- Management and Commerce (27 people or 12.4%)
- Engineering and Related Technologies (15 people or 6.9%)
In combination these three fields accounted for 71 people in total or 32.7% of the Accommodation and Food Services .
In comparison, Queensland employed 13.4% in Food, Hospitality and Personal Services; 12.6% in Management and Commerce; and 2.9% in Engineering and Related Technologies.
The major differences between the fields of qualifications of the Accommodation and Food Services workforce in the Cook Shire and Queensland were:
- A larger percentage of local workers qualified in the field of Engineering and Related Technologies (6.9% compared to 2.9%)
- A larger percentage of local workers qualified in the field of Agriculture, Environmental and Related Studies (4.6% compared to 0.7%)
- A larger percentage of local workers qualified in the field of Health (3.7% compared to 1.9%)
- A smaller percentage of local workers qualified in the field of Society and Culture (2.3% compared to 4.6%)
