In the Cradle Coast Region, Manufacturing had the largest total exports by industry, generating $1,068 million in 2016/17.

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in Cradle Coast Region in 2016/17 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($1,068 million or 27.9%)
- Mining ($802 million or 21.0%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($488 million or 12.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $2,358 million in total or 61.7% of the total exports by total industry in the Cradle Coast Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 19.8% in Manufacturing; 6.2% in Mining; and 10.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.
The major differences between total exports by industries in the Cradle Coast Region and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Mining (21.0% compared to 6.2%)
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (27.9% compared to 19.8%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (1.6% compared to 7.3%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.9% compared to 6.3%)
The total exports by industries in the Cradle Coast Region decreased by $499.3 million between 2011/12 and 2016/17.
The largest changes in total exports by industries between 2011/12 and 2016/17 in the Cradle Coast Region were for:
- Manufacturing (-$426 million)
- Mining (-$138 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$75 million)
