Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Cradle Coast Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($1,173 million or 23.4%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($1,056 million or 21.1%)
  • Mining ($1,042 million or 20.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $3,271 million in total or 65.3% of the total imports by industry in the the Cradle Coast Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 19.3% in Manufacturing; 15.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 5.9% in Mining.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the Cradle Coast Region and Tasmania were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (20.8% compared to 5.9%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (21.1% compared to 15.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (7.8% compared to 13.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (1.0% compared to 5.6%)

Emerging groups

The total total imports by industry in the Cradle Coast Region increased by $124 million between 2013/14 and 2018/19.

The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2013/14 and 2018/19 in the Cradle Coast Region were for:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$456 million)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+$93 million)
  • Information Media and Telecommunications (+$58 million)
  • Other Services (+$34 million)
