Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Cradle Coast Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($1,839 million or 28.8%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($678 million or 10.6%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($558 million or 8.7%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $3,075 million in total or 48.1% of the total imports by industry in the the Cradle Coast Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 29.4% in Manufacturing; 8.4% in Financial and Insurance Services and 8.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the Cradle Coast Region and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (10.6% compared to 8.4%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (3.2% compared to 5.2%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (8.0% compared to 6.9%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Transport, Postal and Warehousing (5.5% compared to 6.4%)

The total total imports by industry in the Cradle Coast Region increased by $321 million between 2013/14 and 2018/19.
The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2013/14 and 2018/19 in the Cradle Coast Region were for:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$124 million)
- Financial and Insurance Services (+$82 million)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+$79 million)
- Information Media and Telecommunications (+$57 million)
