In the Cradle Coast Region, Manufacturing had the largest total imports by industry, generating $1,612 million in 2016/17.

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Cradle Coast Region in 2016/17 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($1,612 million or 28.5%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($494 million or 8.7%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($474 million or 8.4%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $2,580 million in total or 45.6% of the total imports by total industry in the Cradle Coast Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 29.3% in Manufacturing; 7.7% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 7.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between total imports by industries in the Cradle Coast Region and Tasmania were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Wholesale Trade (5.6% compared to 4.1%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (8.4% compared to 7.2%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (8.7% compared to 7.7%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (1.1% compared to 5.9%)
The total imports by industries in the Cradle Coast Region decreased by $200.6 million between 2011/12 and 2016/17.
The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2011/12 and 2016/17 in the Cradle Coast Region were for:
- Manufacturing (-$222 million)
- Mining (-$140 million)
- Wholesale Trade (+$94 million)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$81 million)
