Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Circular Head Council area in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($209 million or 25.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($103 million or 12.4%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($98 million or 11.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $410 million in total or 49.2% of the total imports by industry in the the Circular Head Council area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 29.4% in Manufacturing; 8.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 8.4% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the Circular Head Council area and Tasmania were:

  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (25.0% compared to 29.4%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (12.4% compared to 8.2%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Education and Training (6.4% compared to 2.3%)
