Dominant groups
Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the Cradle Coast Region in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (5,812 people or 13.1%)
- Retail Trade (4,916 people or 11.1%)
- Manufacturing (4,207 people or 9.5%)
In combination these three industries employed 14,935 people in total or 33.7% of the total resident workforce.
In comparison, the Tasmania workforce in the Cradle Coast Region employed 14.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.9% in Retail Trade and 6.9% in Manufacturing.
The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the Cradle Coast Region and the Tasmania workforce were:
- A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (8.4% compared to 5.3%)
- A smaller percentage of resident workforce employed in Public Administration and Safety (5.0% compared to 7.8%)
- A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Manufacturing (9.5% compared to 6.9%)
- A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Mining (3.1% compared to 1.0%)

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident workforce between 2011 and 2016 in the Cradle Coast Region were for those employed in:
- Manufacturing (-1,373 resident workforce)
- Industry not classified (+907 resident workforce)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+838 resident workforce)
