Dominant groups

Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in Cradle Coast Region in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (5,812 people or 13.1%)
  • Retail Trade (4,916 people or 11.1%)
  • Manufacturing (4,207 people or 9.5%)

In combination these three industries employed 14,935 people in total or 33.7% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, Tasmania employed 14.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.9% in Retail Trade; and 6.9% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the Cradle Coast Region and Tasmania were:

  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (8.4% compared to 5.3%)
  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Manufacturing (9.5% compared to 6.9%)
  • A larger percentage of resident workforce employed in Mining (3.1% compared to 1.0%)
