Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Cradle Coast Region in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($1,709million or 26.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($639million or 9.7%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($530million or 8.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $2,878 million in total or 43.9% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Cradle Coast Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Tasmania accounted for 23.8% in Construction; 9.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 4.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between local sales by industries of the Cradle Coast Region and Tasmania were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (8.1% compared to 4.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3.0% compared to 5.4%)
