Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Shire of East Pilbara in 2022/23 shows the three largest industries were:
- Mining ($7,169 million or 41.1%)
- Manufacturing ($3,598 million or 20.6%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($1,679 million or 9.6%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $12,446 million in total or 71.4% of the total imports by industry in the the Shire of East Pilbara.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Western Australia accounted for 17.9% in Mining; 26.7% in Manufacturing and 7.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the Shire of East Pilbara and Western Australia were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (41.1% compared to 17.9%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (20.6% compared to 26.7%)
