Eurobodalla Shire is located on the south coast of New South Wales. The Shire encompasses a total land area of over 3,400 square kilometres. Eurobodalla Shire is a rural and growing residential and resort area. The main towns are Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma, with numerous other small villages. Most of the population is located along the coastal fringe, or living beside the lakes and rivers. Three-quarters of the Shire is national park or state forest. The major industries are timber production and dairy farming, including milk, butter and cheese production.
Key employment sectors in Eurobodalla Shire include retail trade, accommodation and food services, tourism industry occupations, health care and social assistance, education and training, and construction. The main retail areas in the Shire are Batemans Bay Town Centre (including Village Centre and Bridge Plaza), Bodalla Township, Moruya Township, Narooma Plaza, Batehaven Mall, Mogo Village and Central Tilba Historic Village. Tourism is an important industry, with natural attractions including national parks, nature reserves, beaches, lakes, rivers and small islands, and a range of built attractions (eg. Mogo Zoo, Birdland Animal Park, The Original Gold Rush Colony, The Foxglove Spires Gardens and several museums). The main health care facilities are two small public hospitals at Batemans Bay and Moruya, with a number of aged care facilities. Educational facilities are provided at TAFE NSW Illawarra Institute (Moruya Campus) and numerous schools.
