Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in FNQROC in 2018/19 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($5,404 million or 39.2%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($1,554 million or 11.3%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($944 million or 6.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $7,902 million in total or 57.3% of the total imports by total industry in the FNQROC.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 37.3% in Manufacturing; 9.1% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 6.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries in the FNQROC and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of total imports by Financial and Insurance Services (11.3% compared to 9.1%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (39.2% compared to 37.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (2.9% compared to 5.2%)
