An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the City of Greater Geelong in 2020/21 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (5,650 million or 44.1%)
- Education and Training (1,295 million or 10.1%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (1,249 million or 9.8%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 8,195 million in total or 64.0% of the total exports by industry in the the City of Greater Geelong.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Victoria accounted for 20.5% in Manufacturing; 4.8% in Education and Training and 6.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the City of Greater Geelong and Victoria were:
- A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (44.1% compared to 20.5%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (4.6% compared to 13.2%)
- A smaller percentage of total exports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1.4% compared to 7.7%)
