Analysis of the jobs held by the resident workforce in the City of Greater Geelong in 2021shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (22,536 people or 17.4%)
  • Construction (14,549 people or 11.2%)
  • Retail Trade (13,725 people or 10.6%)

In combination these three industries employed 50,810 people in total or 39.2% of the total resident workforce.

In comparison, Victoria employed 14.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.4% in Construction and 9.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the resident workforce of the City of Greater Geelong and Victoria were:
